Two Blackjack Legends You Must Know About
If you’re a professional blackjack player, you must have heard of blackjack legends Ken Uston and Al Francesco. Being two of the most notable players in the industry, they’re credited for using several unique blackjack tricks and methods that are used in casinos even today. Uston and Francesco played for the same team, and were known for causing huge monetary losses to many casinos as well as gambling centres.
Al Francesco: The inventor of team blackjack
Al Francesco started playing blackjack in the 1960s. Also known as the Godfather of Blackjack, Francesco invented the concept of team play in blackjack and was an expert at counting cards. He taught Uston and the rest of his team the method of card counting and other winning strategies. In 2002, he was inducted into the Blackjack Hall of Fame because of his lasting impact on the game. The best thing about his methods was that to onlookers, his winnings appeared to be due to luck, but in reality, he won mainly because of his excellent memorization techniques and careful computation.
Ken Uston: The big team player
Ken Uston joined Francesco’s blackjack team in the early 1970s. He is most noted for his book, The Big Player, which was published in 1977. The book detailed all the secret methods used by his team and revealed all of Francesco’s unique strategies. The book made Uston popular and famous, but soured the relationship between him and his blackjack team.
After the release of Uston’s book, casinos around the world updated the rules of all their games and even changed their systems. Subsequently, Al Francesco’s team was banned from many casinos because his secret tricks had come to light.
